Hi All

You will see on the noticeboard a sheet asking for names of volunteers to learn kitchen and bar duties. Volunteers are the backbone of the club and without these we would not be able to operate. As you all know we are very busy with lots of upcoming tournaments, bar functions and community bowling evenings, all of our current helpers are wonderful but at times we are finding they are getting a bit stretched. It is fun to be part of a team and we have very able Kitchen and Bar Managers who would be only too happy to promote the skills of the correct people.

NEW EVENTS

It has been agreed by the board for Simone to go ahead with Youth bowls in Feb/March, this will be for secondary schools. We thank Simone very much for her interest in wanting to run the programme for us.

RECENT EVENTS

On the 15th October we held a morning tea for new bowlers, this was very successful and thanks to them for all the questions which hopefully have given them more understanding of the ins and out of bowls and the running of the club. A huge thankyou to Mary Tomlinson for supplying the morning tea.

We have recently held two successful sponsored tournaments. 16th Oct by Ingham Motors  and First Windows and Doors on Melbourne Cup Day. We thank them for their continued support.

The Classic unfortunately was cancelled on the Sunday due to rain, however the Saturday was a very good day and was an opportunity to see some great bowling and also see a large number of visitors. Congratulations to our local team of Steve, Jim, Rick and Graham for winning. A huge thanks to Lyn, Dot, Urshula, Ron, Erna and Robert for stepping up and running the kitchen as unfortunately Donna and Kirste were unwell. Thanks also to the Match Committee of Peter and Jim and their helpers Peter and Mike. Also a big thanks to Stu our ever popular raffle man, and of course our ever faithful bar staff. Considering the weather the tournament was as successful as we could hope for.

Fun Friday is continuing to go well, 1st night 60 plus, 2nd night 40 plus and 3rd night 40 plus. Thankyou to Jill, Elaine and Mary for taking the food orders, thankyou to Stu for the raffles and thanks to Dot, Brian and Vern for the bar. Thanks to those who have come along and supported the night and please continue to do so, this involves a big commitment from all involved and it is so much appreciated.

GENERAL NEWS

Members asked for the pool table, please make sure you use this. Also if anyone knows of a dart board in reasonable condition that we could acquire please see Jim.

Just a friendly reminder to smokers and vapours, you must be outside the perimeters and not in the green area.

Twilight has started with 22 teams, thankyou to Placemakers for the prizes which look amazing and also for the free sausage sizzle.

UPCOMING

Christmas dinner, this is on Wed 14th December for all members and partners, tickets will be available from 15th November, they are to be purchased thru the bar using either eftpos or cash. Any queries regarding these please contact Kirste. A poster will be on the noticeboard.
